One? Two? Three columns? YOU DECIDE!
 Posted on: 04/27/08 at 16:51:42

One? Two? Three columns? YOU DECIDE!

In Version 2.0 as you can see under and in this site, it is now possible for all users to instantly decide the number of columns in each page viewed!

To try this new feature, simply delete your browser temp. files and reload the page. Click on the top right and left sidebars X image... and have some fun!

The tool is written in Perl, Javascript and Ajax and should work in all browsers (IE from 5). There is still some work needed for the other blocks. Some positioning in IE also needs some adjustments.

Chris, this is nothing comparing to the "goodies" from Ted which I just can not wait to add! and "something else" from Andy.. which I rather keep my mouth shut about...

The only way to shorten the waiting time is to join the devs team, hopefully we would have some alpha package ready within few weeks. Would you like to join the dev team?

Hi On,
Regretfully, I am not a developer. All I can do is punch some buttoms and fuss when something does not work right. But, if you need someone with a very low volume site who don't mind throwing up something new and relatively untested to help get bugs out, I can do that.

Let me know if I can help.

Thanks.

Thanks Chris, we need your help.

You are in, had to change your .dat file manually, so please let me know if it caused some troubles (eg because the cache hasn't "cached up" yet).

On smile

I like the column set up. The only thing I don't like about it is whenever I click on a link and the page loads the column collapse. Why can't it be made that when a user decides to close it it stays closed, and when the user opens the column it stays open.

True and it can be quite annoying.

This is one of the reason for why most web designers prefer using PHP I guess.
Perl is not as dynamical as PHP, so while in PHP you could be sure that instant data would also be passed to the PHP interface (because the PHP javascript libraries). Other dynamical coding examples where PHP behaves "better" is drag and drop events.

Some rumors say that there would be such libraries implemented also for Perl but not before version 6.0 is stable.

with something like this I would think the cookies could play a part in this dev. like with the style switcher I use for my site.

We use cookies for it. A combination of Perl and Javascript cookies smile. By the way I mean no harm, but I was not kidding about security issues in your site.

Before you ask me to show you, my reply is plain no.

Reason? Last time the private owner of your script, asked in public (actually posted an open invitation to have her private script challenged in security bulletin and in her private site), but when her site was defaced several times (without any damage whatever-except her ego), she and her followers went around whining and acting the "poor victim" rule which they are so good in lol.

While we got several thanks emails from her users for not publishing in the open [yet] those severe issues. She has also forgot to thanks us and link to us for warning about those issues in advance.

I am sure that if she passed her domain to Floyd (Andy) or any other trusted developer, that we would be most happy to cooperate and give more information concerning those issues. But I am afraid that since she made her self the only owner of her private script, this wishful thought of mine is just a dream, I am also afraid that her ego needs are bigger then her users needs for a safer and better script....

Anway, I will lock this thread now. Before it goes even more offtopic smile.

I have checked (over a month ago) the "original" script you are using, your script, mods, and your themes as well as the "original" theme (copied from another CMS, and changed license.. aye? wink), they all have serious backdoors.

You said that you pay cash for your security experts? I see several serious issues and fully open for offers, any cash involved would be contributed by me to the WebAPP organization.

Kind and safe regards

Peculiar, was it my imagination or did he really mention "payment" for security checkups on his piratical script?

But no more hoax please! I mean slightly defacing a 1/4 cent site several times is just a hoax!(I guess because no damage was done). Ouch did 1/4 forgot to inform his users about it?

But crashing a downloads db file by a drugs & sex addict* (DSA from now on..) just for the fun of it, is the real thing!

No I don't pay money for security checks. A group of us do work with security issues for the state and government. I do some work for webapp just for fun.

On a different note I've noticed a nice security issue with the classifieds mod though. Thats why now I've modified and created stand alone mods that are not connected to the core code in any way but only uses the theme.
