Has there been a newtork mod of some kind, for WebApp. I'm just looking for an example of say ten WebAPP installations that share one members directory.Register,login,etc...

Or is this simplest done with rsync maybe?

lol Well, I produced a script that replaced config.pl (with a couple of other minor hacks) that allowed you to use a single part of the database for separate sections of the site (ie. over several subdomains - forums.mysite.tld, articles.mysite.tld, etc). this was c. v0.9.5.

I think this was stolen/hijacked for MultiAPP (there's a surprise!)

From memory, it was fairly easy to do, and I was able to use both a central db and/or split ones.

Yeah, that doesn't quite seem to be what I'd be looking for though. That sounds like same server only coding.

As an extreme example if all webapp user sites were networked that way, there would be just one members db. All our usernames and passwords profile data would be the same. The one db would either have to be  "one db/members" or everyone would basically mirror "one db/members".

As an example...what would need to be changed to have FloydAPP use JackDeathAPP's db/members/ as its script data and also be able to write to...limiting each username to same access as if the db was on FloydAPP itself.

Can that be done with config setting of JackDethAPP db/members and .htaccess setup ?

I had often thought about a central userbase like the one you described above. You go to one site and get a WebAPP-ID and this gives you basic membership to ANY WebAPP powered site (or at least with any site that signs up to the ID system.

I'm going to try something with that ajax method, I think that should be able to even grab any cookies the user might have set from the remote site. Which should then be able to use it once returned for cookies on any of the communty sites the user is at.

I tried that Ajax Cross Domain script quickly, its written in perl. Haven't got it to work yet, on a linux server anyway.

Tried this php example and I've got it working cross domain and can retrieve files, admin ones as well. So it definitely needs some coding added to secure access to user with proper username password combo.

Either way, I'm probably years away from adapting it...I need to learn how to simulate php into perl I guess first.
