hey (high 5's Ted) Thanks!! Yeah I'm still sitting here without a single language file :(
There must be something about all this I don't know yet.

OK...

So I have a great idea...

How about you let us know which language files you want...  and we will get them for you!!!!

:)

I actually had some language files on ThemeAPP.com but they got pulled for some reason I believe...

No Matter, I will add back whatever language files I find...  in the meantime check out ThemeAPP.com as well as post a list of the languages your looking for.

I think the point is to have the basics availble. Spanish, French, German and whatever makes sense.

I have all the language files, to be exact, the 28 languages above and about 5-6 more (vitnamese, somali, kurdish and more). The ones not displayed yet are being debugged and updated to go with version 1.0, same with several of the languages displayed above.

They will be released with our next release and infact are already tested in the alpha package...

Anyway, why I dont make them public, we are having a problem with a group of criminals (some of them have police records from before) that steal our code and then republish it as their code, they are so lazzy in doing anything (but stealing other people hard work) that even the language translator from above they (or rather she) did not even change the line "Translate this page" in the piratical copy.

Anyway, back to the issue discussed above (at the begining of the thread), an original discussion with Floyd about HIS original idea and website by the name LANGAPP (which is also copied by those criminals). I think it is fair to pay some compensation for mods and extra translations but the main language file should stay free (as long as its copyrights are intact).

I like this guy. He gets it :D
That's exactly what I am getting at here. Just some basic languages. Kind of the expected ones you might say.

So where does one find them?

.....I was only thinking a few basics. Like Ted said, Spanish, German, French, maybe some Asian... you know, to be somewhat "world friendly".

They will be released with our next release and infact are already tested in the alpha package...

.....That sounds excellent to me. In fact, it's hard to understand why this software, which supports so many languages, would not come with at least a FEW in the package.

Anyway, why I dont make them public, we are having a problem with a group of criminals (some of them have police records from before) that steal our code and then republish it as their code, they are so lazzy in doing anything (but stealing other people hard work) that even the language translator from above they (or rather she) did not even change the line "Translate this page" in the piratical copy.

.....maybe you should IM me the site/name of organization so I don't stumble into them. I've been to a lot of WebApp sites trying to get mods and things (lately language files). I may have encountered them and not even known it. I've been through this very thing long ago myself. And it sux, I know. And there's not a lot a body can do about it, but complain.

.....I think the entire package should come with a pricetag. Then you can do something about piracy. It doesn't have to be much, either. Charge $15 for the program, and a couple bucks each for mods, etc... or some kind of subscription fee for the add-ons, etc. But I still think some basic language files should come with the program.

Just my opinion.

Who it is?

To make it very short, its the same person whom has been struggling very hard the last few days to proove that she "even" found the code in google..lol (by the way there is no such code in google, so this is nothing but a plain lie).

This is so comic or maybe tragic?. It somewhere reminds me of this heavy drugs abuser I have seen the other day in the street, trying to give an impression that he is "normal", walking as "normal" as he can... he looked "super convincing" just as the codes/credits thief does.

I for one don't think that coincidently two days after that person saw the code in our site (I have a log documenting that) that it happened to appear on her site with her signature. She did the same with most if not all the code she released. But this example is so strong and so fresh that I had to make a point about it.

I couldn't care less about it, but it destroys a lot for webapp, as the codes  that are taken, are totally being misunderstood and are changed into security hazards script. A hacker shouldn't need more than 2-3 minutes to deface the spinoff version you are using right now for example. I know of atleast 5-6 ways that this can be done. And please don't ask me how, because I have no interest whatever helping to debug this monster spinoff script that is originally based on a stable script taken from the webapp development team without a consent and changed into a security hazard.

Languages, our language files are not compatible with the spin-off script either.

Apropo, defacing sites. Some spinoff sites were tested, but no damage was made.

I see that it was discussed and even posted a "fix" for one of these issues in the internal spin-off site security forum. Dont ask me how I can read the posts there lol.

I did point out both that issue that was "fixed" and the forum issue long time ago. The "fixed" issue was suggested to be fixed precisly over 2 years ago, its only tragic that the allmighty chicken coder was to bussy with her egotripping that she did not have time to read my post.. she can just scroll down and see the fix in her own intern security forums (2 years ago!).

On grin

.....amazingly enough, weeks later, I still only have the one which came with the script.

They will be released with our next release and infact are already tested in the alpha package...

Is this going to be relatively soon? Or years down the road?

Anyway, why I dont make them public, we are having a problem with a group of criminals (some of them have police records from before) that steal our code and then republish it as their code, they are so lazzy in doing anything (but stealing other people hard work) that even the language translator from above they (or rather she) did not even change the line "Translate this page" in the piratical copy.

I know of whom you speak. Interestingly enough, and I'm sure you are already aware of this, "they" claim exactly the same thing about "this" group. And no, I didn't ask. I was asking for language files there, where I had downloaded the package originally... before I came to this site. Funny, they sound every bit as sincere and determined as this group does. "She" asked me to be a beta tester. I was thinking about it. Of course, the more I use the program, the more bugs I am finding. This, of course, leads me to consider that THIS group is being more honest than THAT group. And I'm sure you're not THAT concerned about who I believe is right or where I get scripts, mods and language files from. I'm merely trying to be honest with you here.
In the end, all I am looking for is a good reliable program to run my web site with. (remember?) WebApp looks to be te one, fee attached or not. However, there are bugs which I cannot fix, nor understand the logic behind. So I WON'T be using the version I have. Hopefully, as you said, the next release (upgrade?) can convert my pirated version to the correct version and fix the bugs.
So umm, how long might it be until it is released, or at least be available?

Anyway, back to the issue discussed above (at the begining of the thread), an original discussion with Floyd about HIS original idea and website by the name LANGAPP (which is also copied by those criminals). I think it would be rather nice to be able to FIND A SINGLE LANGUAGE FILE SOMEWHERE!! (sorry, it is frustrating)
Anyway, I believe you are on the right path to success. If you need beta testers or anything, look me up. However, I believe you have enough of those already. And this is good.

Oh, and I won't be testing for "them" afterall.

P.S. my wireless keyboard is dying, apparently, so if it dropped any letters which I missed please accept my apologies.

Well...  funny thing...

The package in the downloads here right now is the most secured ever released...

so aside from the bugs and security issues "they" added into the script...  they havent really done much to advance it.

Now the NEXT version of WebAPP, (which is currently running on here) is a major step forward for WebAPP and CMS altogether...
Luckily it wont be an issue finding language files for this version since they will be with the package themselves...
unfortunately for you even if we gave you these files now, they would not be compatible with the script you are using...

I was only able to find some OLD language files which are outdated and would'nt have been useful to you...
I still havent found where I kept my stash of Language files since I never expected them to dry up like they have...

Well, it seems you want to use the WebAPP script for a specific type of site, which would need to be secure and configurable without compromise...

While its fine to play around with the released scripts as Mock-Up material, I would recommend waiting a little bit for the next Release...  This one WILL be worth the wait, and it wont be all that long a wait.

Keep WebAPPin'...  cool

Oh...  and why arent you going to be testing for "them"???  they catch wind of our conversations over here and over reacted when you said something they didnt like?

I am obviously missing something here. You see that "it" was discussed? Exactly what "it" is that? I know I have run into a host of bugs in the version I am using, many of which have no logic based on them. And when brought to "her" attention ('represented as the main programer') the problems remain. Some where fixed... the easier ones, I suppose... Ones which I undersatood during the repairing process. The ones which remain are more like Poltergeists.

I did point out both that issue that was "fixed" and the forum issue long time ago.

Again, you're losing me here. ("forum issue"?) Perhaps it is because I work a 14 hr a day job out of state Monday-Friday and by the time the weekend rolls around I have forgotten everything from the previous weekend, including the fact that I have a website that doesn't run right and won't accept the cooler MODS that I have promised my members (and potential members) I would install.

Actually this is moderately depressing. Since this web site is supposed to be the 'springboard' for the next site, which is intended to generate money, after spending money of course. But none of that is your concern.

Just my luck, geting the WRONG version of this program. You know, I believe I found it originally on a site like The CGI Resource Index. Why didn't I find THIS version and site there?

That is a part of her propaganda ploy...  While we were busy with updating the script, life, finding security issues, life, making a few new themes, life, updating the outdated coding with newer code concepts, life...  she obviously had none of those things on her mind and started a propaganda run posting on all of the CGI, Perl, script sites she could find about her pirated copy of our work.
So while we were actually working on something, she was regurgitating the same old bugs over and over again while adding new refreshing bugs and security risks all the while making (l)users reinstall the script multiple times because she doesnt understand the concept of security, or of good release practices.
Her plan was actually just an attempt to jump up ahead in numbers, this too was part of the propaganda ploy...  after all if we are on version 0.9.9.3.4 yet her pirate script is version 0.9.9.7 which one would you use if they both are called the same thing?

In the end she was more interested in attempting to steal the work and community that comes with WebAPP due to a disease called greed.  She got infected with this disease a while back...  it just took us a while to see how sick she was.

Yes, I understood that. Again, just my luck.

It wasnt Luck...  it was misfortune...  you had the misfortune of being lied to by the Chicken Farmer and her Orgie Clown Puppets.

I do appreciate your attempting to help me with that. I realize that you certainly had no responsibility to, in view of the fact that I am stuck with a pirated version. (for now)

1 Actually, I just ran into a series of problems while attempting to post that last one. I had clicked PREVIEW, decided to add one more thing so I clicked EDIT, was taken back to the compose screen and the contents of the message box had changed. It included some things I had actually deleted from the post, as a quoted reply. And the formatting was all wrong.  some QUOTE tags were missing, etc.

2 Also, the Custom Smilies link on the compose page doesnt seem to take you to a place with smilies. It opens a regulated window (size) which appears to be the home page.

3 One more: While in edit/compose screen if you highlight some text then try to apply, say BOLD or a COLOR to it, instead the tags are appended to the end of the message/post. I prefer to edit those things after I am finishd writing the words, So I had to add them manually here.

equinox, hi

They can say "the same thing", but it is a matter of fact that the spinoff site was defaced not less than 3 times since they claimed to have the most safe script. It is also a matter of fact that our site has NEVER been defaced. Run search on google for webapp and security, you will find one trillion articles about problems with spinoff webapp versions.  The only thing you will find about the original webapp script, yes the one at the downloads here is a link to a post by me saying "we also have some issues that need to be fixed, but not as bad as being defaced".

Google should be a good enough judge. It does not take sides, it simply tells you what is out there...

While still being in google, run a search on "bantychick", learn well that person from before she joined our team an expelled from it, hmmm... some interesting things aye?

Here in WebAPP we do not release half done scripts like drugs. We release things when they are done with hope that our users do not need to be dependent on us fixing new bugs and new security issues for them. Simple and fair enough.
